Reflections on a Day out with Diamonds!

by Loz

The sun was out, the tide checked, snacks prepped and we were ready to go.

First-timers mingled with DITRA veterans and soon we were like friends of old, heading off on an adventure of epic proportions. With rock scrambling, wide tracks, single tracks, boardwalks, sandy tracks and even a lighthouse we experienced so much beauty and I haven't even mentioned the dolphins we saw at our morning tea picnic!

A long rock scramble to start the day was a challenge for us all (ok, perhaps some of us more than others), but the advice from Clare and Jo and the support from fellow Diamonds to take those big steps, climb on the higher up edges, and to watch those gaps all whilst keeping our eyes on the water was just what was needed to get the adrenaline going.

We continued on until we found the perfect spot for a picnic - and it did not disappoint, with dolphins putting on a little show!

We then made our way to the lighthouse where the DITRA banner was unfurled and the traditional photo was taken. I tell you what, there are some pretty decent city skyline views from that lighthouse!

We went "inland" on the way back and took a greener route, making our day a loop walk to ensure we got to see all that was on offer in the Kamay Botany NP.

The adventure finished with a stroll across the grass and a rest under a shady tree. Those who stayed on extended their adventure with a swim and gelato!

What I loved most about this adventure was not the lovely weather, beautiful views, variety of tracks or even the dolphins but, the lovely people I spent it with :-) I love being a Diamond!
